Group Activities for Educators

There are many opportunies for single-day group visits to the University Museum. We often have local Las Cruces public school groups visit the museum, as well as nearby groups from Texas. We are happy to provide activities that work within a school's curriculum or a group's topic of interest. Group activities are only available by appointment to allow for adequate preparation and staffing.

Our most popular group activities in the past include:

  • Guided tours of the public galleries
  • Demonstrations in bead drilling techniques
  • Demonstrations in pottery making techniques
  • Demonstrations in weaving techniques
  • Southwest American ceramic identification workshop
  • Atlatl (spear) throwing demonstrations
  • Mock archaeological excavation and mapping activities
  • Lectures on archaeological and/or anthropological topics
  • And many more!
