Effigy Jar

This jar has two owl faces on it. Archaeologists believe that duality was an important concept in Casas Grandes cosmology because it reflected aspects of duality in their social structure. Representations of dualism like the ones found on pottery often depict two parts coming together to form a whole. Birds are an important motif due to their association with the sky.
