Puerco Black-On-White/Chaco-McElmo Black-On-White Pitcher

The people of Chaco Canyon valued pitchers such as this one, using them as drinking vessels, ritual objects, and funerary items. Some pitchers have cacao (chocoloate) or holly residue on the inside from use in ritual drinking practices. Cacao was traded from Mesoamerica, and holly came from the southeastern US.
